Although Rolex had already introduced the cheapest rolex GMT-Master II in 1982, it released the GMT-Master 16700 as a more affordable option. The GMT-Master 16700 was only available in stainless steel and came with a blue and red Pepsi bezel or an all-black bezel. The Rolex ref. 16710 is the second model in the GMT-Master II series.
